YouTube Earnings by Country

What creators earn from YouTube per 1,000 views, by audience country. Google publishes no official figure, so every number here is a published estimate shown with its source, its date and the spread between sources — which for some countries is a factor of three.

Where these numbers come from

Google publishes no CPM or RPM figure by country. Not in YouTube Help, not in the Analytics documentation, not anywhere. Every number on this page is a third-party estimate, and every one of them is attributed below to the publication it came from and the date that publication last updated it.

The estimates disagree, and not slightly. For the United States one source says $32–36, another $32.75, a third $14.67. The likeliest explanation is that they are not measuring the same thing: YouTube Analytics reports three different figures a page can call "CPM" — advertiser CPM, playback-based CPM and RPM — and a source that does not say which it means cannot be reconciled with one that means another. None of the three states a methodology. That is why this page shows you a range and its provenance instead of one confident number.

RPM is not CPM minus YouTube's cut

This is the mistake almost every page on this subject makes, and it used to be on this one. CPM is what an advertiser pays per 1,000 ad impressions. RPM is what reaches you per 1,000 video views. Google's own definition says RPM is lower than CPM for two reasons, not one: it is counted after the revenue share, and it includes all views, including the ones that were never monetised. Multiplying CPM by 0.55 accounts for the first and ignores the second, so it overstates RPM — in the one source here that publishes both, RPM runs at about a third of CPM, not 55% of it. (Google's definition)

How to get your real number instead

Your own figure is the only one that is not an estimate, and YouTube gives it to you. In YouTube Studio open Analytics → Revenue, then the Revenue sources and Geography cards: RPM and CPM are both there, split by country, for your channel and your niche. Anything on this page — or on any page like it — is a sanity check against that, not a substitute for it.

YouTube CPM and RPM, country by country

One section per country, each with what every source we could find publishes for it, when that source was last updated, and what it works out to per month. Countries no source covers say so rather than being given a number.

Google publishes no official CPM or RPM for any country. Each section below shows what other publications estimate, with the date each of them last updated it.

Tips to Maximize Your Earnings

1

Target High-CPM Countries

Create content in English to attract viewers from the US, UK, and Australia - the highest CPM countries.

2

Choose High-Value Niches

Finance, technology, and education content commands higher CPM rates regardless of viewer location.

3

Stream 24/7 for Global Reach

24/7 streaming naturally attracts viewers from different time zones, increasing your high-CPM audience reach.

4

Leverage Seasonal Trends

Q4 (October-December) typically sees 30-50% higher CPM due to holiday advertising budgets.

Your audience's country sets your CPM — your uptime sets how many views you get. Stream 24/7 from the cloud with TheLoops and keep earning while you sleep.

Frequently Asked Questions

CPM rates reflect advertiser demand and purchasing power in each market. Countries with higher GDP and consumer spending (like the US, UK, Australia) have advertisers willing to pay more per impression. CPM varies significantly between regions.

Create content in English to attract US/UK/AU viewers. Post when these audiences are active (afternoon EST). Use English titles, descriptions, and tags. Consider topics popular in these regions. 24/7 streams naturally attract global audiences during different time zones.

Live streams often have lower CPM than regular videos because viewers may skip ads more easily. However, 24/7 streams compensate with volume - more total watch hours mean more ad impressions overall, often resulting in higher total revenue despite lower per-impression rates.

Finance, business, and technology content consistently sees higher CPM rates globally. Advertiser competition in these niches drives up rates. A finance channel with Indian viewers may see higher CPM than an entertainment channel with US viewers due to niche demand.

They are not measurements and no one should treat them as such. Google publishes nothing per country, so every figure here is a third-party estimate, shown with the name and date of the publication it came from. The three sources disagree by up to a factor of three for the same country — see "Where these numbers come from" above for the likeliest reason. Your own CPM and RPM also move with your niche, audience, video length, ad format and season: Q4 typically runs 30-50% higher. The number that actually applies to you is in YouTube Studio under Analytics → Revenue.

CPM is what an advertiser pays per 1,000 ad impressions. RPM is what reaches you per 1,000 video views. Google's definition gives two reasons RPM is lower, and most pages only apply one: it is counted after YouTube's 55% revenue share, and it includes every view, including the many that were never monetised — a viewer with an ad blocker, or a view where no ad was served, still counts in your total and brings nothing. So RPM is not CPM x 0.55. In the one source on this page that publishes both, RPM lands at roughly a third of CPM. Where a source publishes an RPM, this page shows that; where none does, it says so and marks the figure as an upper bound.
